The film making industry is a very competitive business, and unless you know what you are doing you will not last very long in this industry. Fortunately film connection has enabled me to acquire the valuable knowledge essential to become useful in this business. The curriculum is individually tailored for me, and I can learn in my free time at my convenience. My mentor has spent many hours going through everything I will need to know, he has also taught me how to work as part of a team and also on my own initiative. These are all valuable lessons that will help me when it comes to looking for work. Thank you www.filmconnection.com .

I just want to say thank you to film connection for teaching me so much about making movies, and in particular, sound design. My mentor really showed me everything there was to know about sound design and how to make all these great sounds from ordinary objects or from common and garden sounds. He also showed how to be selective in the use of sound, which is very important in film making. Thank you www.filmconnection.com.

The strange thing about Las Vegas, apart from the fact that it is a city built in the middle of a desert is the fact that despite the fact that as a state it lies next to California (the home of Hollywood) there is very little opportunity to go to film school within the city. The colleges are very poorly equipped and usually oversubscribed. Luckily I found film connections and am now learning the craft from within one of the best equipped studios in the city. The one on one mentoring program is the best way to study, working alongside a working professional. Film connection has saved me from having to relocate to Los Angeles. Thank you www.filmconnection.com .

You may be aware that film is an extremely competitive industry to break into, also extremely difficult. What you may not know is film connection is THE best way to break into this business. Whether you want to be a Director, Producer, Foley Artist, Editor or Sound Designer there is no better way to get into film than FC. I enrolled with them 6 years ago and thanks to them I am doing exactly what I want to be doing, Cinematography. Thanks to large tax incentives many studios are doing their business in the Southern and South Eastern states. This is great for me as I did not really wish to relocate to the West coast. I am now making a very good living right where I live. If you are serious about making movies, give these guys a call, you won’t regret it, believe me. Thank you www.filmconnection.com .

I just wanted to say thank you to film connection and especially to my mentor Joseph for helping me over the last 6 months. I went into the mentor/ apprentice program with a lot of enthusiasm but not a lot of experience. Thanks to their fantastic curriculum and Joseph’s undying desire to see me succeed I have managed to learn so much valuable knowledge of film production. From an early stage he could see that my talents lay with editing, so he concentrated my learning on the editing process. I completed numerous editing assignments and was able to use them on my visits to various studios. They worked so well that one of the studios we visited agreed to take me on, even before I had finished my course. I begin full time in 2 weeks time. I just wanted to say thank you www.filmconnection.com and thank you Joseph.

I have been a movie fanatic since child hood. I lived for my Saturday morning trip to the cinema to watch some old Disney movie or cartoon. What truly fascinated me were all the sounds used in movies, how did they make the T-Rex roar in Jurassic Park? So it was an obvious career choice for me to make movies, to make sounds for movies to be more precise. So when I got the chance to study sound design through film connection I jumped at the chance. My one on one mentor has been going through all aspects of sound design, including foley work. There has never been a dull moment during my course. With my training and also with the help of my mentor I hope to get a position inside one of the sound effects houses in Hollywood. I’m keeping everything crossed that I will find my dream job. Thank you www.filmconnection.com for giving me the opportunity to do the thing that I really enjoy.

Making wildlife documentaries has been my dream ever since I was at school. National Geographic and Animal Planet have been my channels of choice since I was a kid. So when I got the chance to actually make and produce my own wildlife docs I jumped at the chance. I enrolled with film connection as they offered me the best chance to get into this exciting industry. My mentor taught me all aspects of wildlife filming and also basic survival techniques, which was a real life saver as last month I spent a week filming the great salmon spawning in Alaska and boy was it cold. When I finish my program I hope to work for the National Geographic, Animal Planet or Discovery Channels. Thank you www.filmconnection.com for giving me the chance to do what I truly love.

Thanks to film connection I have been working making commercials all over the East Coast for just over 5 years now. My Work takes me from my home in New Hampshire, down as far as the Florida Keys and as far north as Nova Scotia in Canada. The work is varied and at time challenging, but it’s great fun to be doing what you want to be doing. Before my course with film connection I was a sales person and I really hated it. Not because of the endless travelling but because I knew I could be doing something better. Thanks to the mentor / apprentice program I completed 5 years ago I am doing something I was destined to do. Thank you www.filmconnection.com for giving my life back to me.

Choosing to enroll with film connection has to be THE best decision I have made in my life. My one on one mentor taught me all aspects of working with film. Not just the obvious “this is how you hold a camera” stuff, but also such things as foley work, set design, location scouting, even how to negotiate with city officials. Everything needed to make myself more attractive to a prospective studio head or production manager. Being a film camera operator is something I have wanted to do since school, but I never really believed I would ever get into this highly competitive industry. have been on my film connection program for just over 4 months now. I’m based in Nevada, but I am doing my course near Los Angeles, California. My mentor is Tony and he really is a great guy. He has dissected the film industry for me so that I understand each and every aspect of it. The work is hard; I won’t lie about that, but also greatly rewarding. Making your own short movie (mine was about urban art) and watch it grow from an idea to the finished film is just so amazing. He has also been introducing me to the many people he knows within the film making industry, taking me on shoots. He has even recommended reading material of specific movies to watch, knowing these may help me. I have 2 more months to go and everything is going much better than I could ever have imagined. I’m so glad I never listened to all the naysayers on some of the forums I visited and made up my own mind. I would be kicking myself if I had not taken the chance. This is all I ask, do your own research. Study the pro’s and con’s for yourself, don’t listen to hearsay and groundless innuendo and accusations from the ill informed or merely bitter.

My name is Eddie, I run a very successful commercial making company here in Wichita, Kansas. 18 months ago I was introduced to a young man by the name of Simon by William, a mentor with www.filmconnection.com. For six months William taught Simon everything there was to know about making commercials for TV. From filming to editing, and everything in between. Even from an early stage I could see that bright spark of determination in Simon’s eyes and I knew he would go far in this business. He was here so much I swear he must have been sleeping here somewhere. Even when he wasn’t working he could be found here or at a shoot watching, taking notes and asking questions. We when his 6 month program finished I practically tripped over myself in the rush to hire him, I knew if I didn’t, someone would and I would spend the rest of my life kicking myself for letting him slip away. He’s been with us for a year now and I could not be happier. I thank www.filmconnection.com and William for bringing this ray of light my way. And I thank Simon for his hard work and determination.

I have been enrolled in www.filmconnection,com here in Denver , Colorado for 4 months now and I am really enjoying it. I enjoy working alongside professionals in a real movie set. And when I say working alongside, I really mean it and not just running to get the director coffee or sandwiches. I’ve never been a fan of classrooms, had far too much of that at school, so I was thrilled when they explained that most of my study would be hands on. I have a mentor, Joseph and he has been working in film for many years so knows exactly what he’s talking about. He is also introducing me to many of his colleagues and business acquaintances within the business, which is a big bonus as it is well known that many people get hired on word of mouth as much as experience, so long as you know what you are doing that is. If you are seriously considering a career in film I strongly suggest that you give these folks a call. It may not be for you, but then again it could be the best decision you will EVER make. I have just enrolled with www.filmconnection.com and I couldn’t be happier. They sat me down and went through all my options. They asked me exactly where I saw myself in, say 5 years time. They explained that the curriculum would be tailored to suit me and my lifestyle, which is great because I work part time at a local dealership. They also introduced me to my mentor Isaac, who will teach me all I need to know about the movie making business. He has many years of experience both in Hollywood and also in Europe. This was perfect as I very much admire European film maker’s especially French film makers such as Luc Besson and newcomer Pierre Morel. They both possess the directing style that I would like to utilize. The other great thing is that they have an easy payment system so that you can pay it off in low installments, this is a great weight off my mind, allowing me to concentrate on my studies and not how I’m going to pay for it. Deborah ensured I learned everything and I do mean everything about making commercials. Treat the subject matter just as you would treat a movie. She taught me to strive for what I want and to believe in myself and my team. Last week I was asked by my former mentor and now friend Jason whether I would say a few words about my experiences with www.filmconnection.com. To be quite honest I would be honored to say exactly what I thought of my experiences with them. Enrolling with them was THE best decision I have ever made..period. The taught me everything I know about making films. They taught me all aspects of film making from how to scout locations and how to use a modern film camera to set design and even makeup. But what they taught me most was self belief, they taught me how to believe in myself, because if you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect a major studio to. Recently I moved from my home town of Biloxi, Mississippi to Los Angeles, California and am now working fulltime for a major Hollywood studio. Everyone has different experiences obviously, but I have to say that my personal experiences with www.filmconnection.com are 100% positive. Ever since I was a little kid I have loved wild life. I have also loved watching wildlife documentaries. Channels such as the National Geographic and Animal Planet have been an inspiration to me over the years. Now I have enrolled with www.filmconnection.com and hope to become a wildlife film maker. Thanks to their tailored curriculum, I can study around my social and working life. My mentor David is teaching me all aspects of filming, with an emphasis on shooting wildlife. Not just the typical “how to hold your camera” but also such important things as how to cover your scent, how to make an impromptu hide or platform. In 2 months I will be vacationing in Costa Rica and I will be filming in the jungles whilst I’m there. This whole program is a wonderful growing experience for me. I hope one day to make a film with Sir David Attenborough, that would be a dream come true.

Thanks to www.filmconnection.com and my one on one mentor, coincidently named James I hope one day soon I will. James has taught me all aspects of filmmaking, with an emphasis on more movie making technologies, such as HD Digital filming and 3D filming. For the last 6 months I have been enrolled in a www.filmconnection.com course here in Houston, Texas and I have to say it has been the most exciting, fulfilling and exhilarating 6 months of my life. When I enrolled, one of the first things they did was assign me my very own personal mentor, Marcus. He has gone through everything, and I do mean everything that you need to know in order to succeed in this cut throat business. He has many years experience working in Hollywood, including on some major projects. He worked in sound design, the area I want to work in so I am listening to all his tips and pearls of wisdom. Right now the movie industry is one of the most dynamic and exciting industries to be working in. Thanks in part to visionaries such as James Cameron, Jack Snyder, David Fincher and Ridley Scott. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com and a lot of hard work and determination one day I really do believe I will be. I’m a major fan of TV crime dramas, my favorites are CSI New York, CSI Miami and NCIS and my biggest dream would be to be behind the camera filming one of these fantastic shows. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com hopefully I soon will be. Their tailored curriculum has taught me everything I need to know (and much more) about filming TV dramas. Luckily I live in New York and can wander around looking at locations. My mentor Danny has taught me so much. Not just the obvious stuff to do with cameras and lighting, but also how to make a location work for you, how to make use of the surroundings, even where the best sounds are in the city. He should know he was born and bred in the city. He has also introduced me to several of his associates within the business, so things are very promising. I’m about to make a short film about real life crime in New York and with Danny’s help will show it to several NY film producers. With any luck something big will come of it. Ever since watching E.T. when I was a little kid I have followed Steven Spielberg’s work. From Jaws, the afore mentioned E.T. Jurassic Park , Schindler’s List, Duel, Saving Private Ryan among many others, I have followed his work very closely. Whenever I purchased one of his movies on DVD I would immediately watch the “making off” often before viewing the actual movie. I loved watching him explain just what drives him, the way he interacts with the talent and crew. There’s a certain magic that surrounds him. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com I hope to follow in his footprints very soon. The curriculum is tailored to my lifestyle, which makes studying much easier. I even have my own one on one mentor, Jerry who is teaching me every aspect of filmmaking, from lighting to location scouting. He is also teaching me how to interact with cast and crew, so that we are all singing from the same hymn book, so to speak. Between the two of them I have all my bases covered, and hopefully you will soon see my name in the beginning of a major blockbuster at your local Cineplex. Thanks again www.filmconnection.com.

I have always been fascinated how the movie makers made all those impressive sounds you hear in the movies. For example the roar of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park and the sound of the meteors striking the Moon in Armageddon. Then I watched the “making of” documentaries on their respective DVD’s. But rather than becoming disillusioned by their methods I was even more intrigued by their methods. So right after finishing high school I decided to enroll at www.filmconnection.com. They utilize a one-on-one mentoring system, where each student has access to their own tutor.

Someone who actually works within the industry, and has connections within the movie making business. My mentor is Perry and thanks to him I am learning everything I need to know (and a lot more besides) about sound design. He has helped me make several short films with a leaning toward sound effects. He has also helped me to pitch these films to prospective moviemakers and things have been very positive. I have several concrete positions available to me once I finish my course. Thing are going very well for me. Thanks to Perry and www.filmconnection.com.

My ambition is to be a wildlife photographer and thanks to www.filmconnection.com that may be a lot sooner than you think. I come from a small town in Central Alaska and to be honest there’s not a lot for the average Joe to do but get drunk, but as a person who enjoys watching wildlife there’s a lot for me here. Combine that with my love of movie making and it’s perfect. With the help of my mentor Jason I am picking up all sorts of hints and tips for wildlife filmmaking.

Learning how to compose a short, how to make the most of available light, making a hide, even how to tempt otherwise shy creatures to you, so that you can get that “wow” shot. Later this month I am going to film the Bowhead Whales in the Bering Straits. I can’t wait. If you have any kind of interest in film making, it doesn’t matter what type of filming you prefer. Give www.filmconnection.com a visit. I guarantee you will not regret it, I didn’t.

Its shocking that a state that lies right next to California, the home of Hollywood, has such a poor selection of genuine film schools. Fortunately I was able to enroll at www.filmconnection.com. And with their help I will soon be able to fulfill my dream of being a director in Tinsel town. My mentor Toby has acquired a vast knowledge of the workings of Hollywood over the years, and I happy to pass on these priceless gems to me. Things such as how to keep your talent motivated, so that you will get the very best from them, also how to manage your crew so that your own vision of the movie is carried faithfully to the big screen. I have even learned a little acting, just so that I know what makes an artiste tick. Toby’s numerous contacts have even promised to get me paid work as soon as I complete my schooling. When I was 14 I directed my own war movie. It starred my classmates whilst I barked directions to them. I still have that movie. It was inspired by Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan; I remember watching a HBO documentary about the making of it when it was being released theatrically in 1998. I loved watching him guide the actors and crew to where he wanted them. The way that everybody listens so intensely at every word he said. I was so pumped up when I discovered that www.filmconnection.com were holding a Film Director Program. They provided me with a one on one mentor (Chris) who not only went through everything involved with making a movie, he also introduced me to all his contacts within the business. I’ve learned so much from him. Cinematography, costumes, lighting, even selling the movie to interested parties. I still have lots to learn but with Chris’s help and also with the help of his many contacts I will succeed. Thank you www.filmconnection.com.

Ever wondered how they get all those fantastic sound effects in hit movies such as Jurassic Park and Toy Story 2? Well it’s all down to a group of guys called Foley artists. On a film set a Foley artist is the person who creates many of the sound effects in a film, working with a recording engineer. They can turn a grumbling elephant or a roaring lion into a very angry T-Rex. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com and my mentor Ryan that is what I am doing right now. They taught me everything they knew about movie sound and how it’s produced, creating sound and enhancing existing sound. In many movies sound is just as important and the image, sometimes more so. There would be no sci-fi or horror movies without the Foley artist and sound engineer. They broke everything into small chunks so it was easier to take it all in. They got me connected within the industry. I am now working in Los Angeles for a major studio thanks to www.filmconnection.com.

Thanks to Gerald, my mentor I have made several short documentaries about the fauna and flora of New Mexico and have been showing them to several film makers. Sure it was great to see the cast and watch them acting, but my big buzz was watching all the back stage stuff, the director shouting “Action” the camera man deciding which lens to use, the sound engineer, even the runner. The atmosphere was electric. As soon as I finished high school I enrolled with www.filmconnection.com I want to be a camera man, and with the help of Jason, my Mentor I’m well on my way to fulfilling that. There’s a hell of a lot to learn, but Jason breaks it all down into smaller bite sized chunks which is easier for me to digest and take in. I’m off to New York City next month to watch them film CSI New York and hopefully speak and get advice from cast and crew. Thank you www.filmconnection.com.

Thanks to www.filmconnection.com I’m going to be doing what most people can only dream about. The curriculum is based around my lifestyle and not the other way around. The one on one mentoring is fantastic as my mentor is so keen to pass on all those little nuggets of information you simply cannot get in a classroom. Thanks to their connections I will be traveling to Hollywood to watch an actual movie being made. The opportunity of a lifetime. I cant wait. Thank you filmconnection.

I have always wanted to be a cameraman ever since I was a toddler, and thanks to www.filmconnection.com I soon will be. And thanks to their easy finance offers I can afford to. Their curriculum is tailored to me, which is great because I work part time in a movie rental store (I know, ironic isn’t it) Maybe I will be the new Quentin Tarantino. I’ve learned all aspects of movie photography. There is a lot to learn, but thanks to Guy, my mentor is easy to take it all in. It’s actually fun as well, which makes a huge difference. This keeps my motivation level high. I have nothing but praise for Guy and filmconnection. Check them out.

My son has never liked school, he found schooling very difficult and was always getting into trouble. One thing we noticed though, he always enjoyed watching programs about making movies. So Last May my husband and I enrolled him at www.filmconnection.com, that was the best decision we have ever made. Not only is he learning something that interests him, he is also improving his reading and writing skills into the bargain.

He has settled down and is no longer in trouble. This course has matured him beyond his years. He gets on famously with Robert, his mentor. He rally has taken him under his wing. They talk about lots of stuff, not just film editing (his chosen field) Thank you filmconnection for giving my son back his future.

Unfortunately I was not born with a silver spoon in my mouth, so I have to work, but I still want to learn to be a Foley artist. That’s why I’m grateful to www.filmconnection.com for giving me the opportunity to learn at my convenience. My studying fits around my work schedule, so I don’t feel pressurized.

The one on one mentoring really helps as well, my mentor is the bomb, there’s nothing this guy doesn’t know and he is so willing to pass on all this invaluable information to me. I’m so grateful to him and to filmconnection.

Ever since I watched those old Black & White Harold Lloyd movies when I was a kid I have wanted to make movies. Unfortunately for me, I live in Iowa and not Hollywood. How was I going to learn the craft if I didn’t live in LA? Easy I enrolled with www.filmconnection.com, and because I can work from home there were no expensive relocation costs. This is easily the best thing I have ever done. Thank you, filmconnection.

Aren't period pieces great? Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette was like a masterpiece of a painting brought to life in the silver screen. We're moved from our places in the theater and into the time period itself. We experience something from hundreds of years ago. It enables us to be a part of our history that we thought long gone, but truth is, in some ways, we can always relive it.

Now, a lot of the success of period pieces is attention to details, especially with the costumes. You'd be amazed at how difficult it can be just to outfit period pieces. The eighties might be known for its shoulder pads, among other things, but you can't just place a bunch of pads in the actors' shoulders and say the scene is from the eighties. No, it will catch the attention of the audience, and they won't be brought back to that period in time that you wanted them to go to. It makes the film less realistic, and in that essence, when the viewers are no longer able to believe, the movie is done. Finished.

Designing the costumes gives the audience that film connection to be a part of that movie and making them believe it. Costumes might be a small fish in a pond of big fishes for the directors, producers, and actors, but you've got to admit, without people paying attention to these things onscreen, all the hard work would be done. It's not as simple a job as one might thing. And what do you know, it helps that we get to shop.

I guess it's a cliche, but there is nothing short of magic when it comes to making films. Any films. All of it starts from a brilliant mind. But ideas get nowhere unless you put in the effort to reflect those ideas into the screen.

And that takes a lot of effort.

Being a director is not quite an easy job, as I am learning from my mentoring program. It's not just about calling the shots and ordering people around. Even that takes skill because when you're telling people what to do, you've got to do it in a way that's clear so they know you mean business but you must not antagonize them either. You want these people at their best so they do their best and not mess up the project that you are all trying to finish. It's like being the mayor of your very own town. You've got be as diplomatic as you could, but you've got to know when to take the hard line and make sure everyone is doing what they should be doing.

And on top of that, you must now compromise your creativity, vision, and integrity, even with frustrating issues such as location shooting, budget concerns, marketing issues.

But in the end, you get to power through all of that and more, and you have the chance to end up with a wonderful film. Our very own film connection to magic.

Who doesn't want to be in charge, right? Wouldn't you want to be able to take the reigns and make sure that your vision is brought to life exactly the way you want it to be? Of course, you've also got to be able to command your team into believing in your vision as well. And that is the mark of a good leader, knowing that it's not just about you working to accomplish you mission, it's also about letting the team believe in it that they are inspired to work on it just as hard you do.

And for me, that's pretty much the qualities of a good director too. Without such focus, how else could you make a good movie.

It's pretty easy to be director these days. With the Internet, and YouTube and Vimeo, it's not that tough get your films out there and show them to the world. You won't even be limited to your country, you can have viewable to the rest of the world. The possibilities are endless.

I guess what I'm saying is, aspiring film makers no longer have the excuse of so much going against them, preventing them from achieving their dreams, when there's so much all around us, going for us, as we bring our visions to life. In this modern day and age, we've got the right tools, the film connection that can let us reach everyone. So we better start working.

It's kind of tough to accept this fact at first, but we've gotta face it. Dreams are not exactly affordable. In fact, might as well say it outright, it's pretty damn expensive. And sometimes, when you go to school, it's not even enough.

With a lot of graduates and dreamers and not enough jobs to give to each and every one of them, it's going to be pretty tough out there. And for a while there, I wasn't sure I wanted to pursue something as „unsure‰ as being involved in films. As a cinematographer to be exact.

Lucky for me, I know that that's not impossible. And the good thing is that while I'm still a student and learning the ropes, I also get work experience that I can actually use when I complete a course and try to find work. Future employers would be more impressed by the fact that I know my way around a film set, more than most graduates would be.

It's going to be tough. It's going to be challenging. But with the right amount of determination, confidence, and the smarts to know where to look, I'm going to be okay. I'm glad I took the chance and got myself that film connection to my dreams. It's not that hard after all.

I was an only child, and although my parents did their best, a lot of the time they were out working. So I was basically left by myself and my dolls, and to keep myself entertained, I would create stories. After a while, this used to be a way for me to break out of my shell. Because I didn't have any sisters or brothers, I was too shy to interact with any other kids. But with writing stories, and getting them to read these, I could still show them that I wasn't boring or mean at all. This was also how I got to bond with my parents. They'd read my stories, sometimes I'd act it out in front of them, and we get to really bond despite the short time we spent with each other.

Of course, when I was eight or nine, I stopped doing it, but I'm still very fond of memories of these.

And in school, joining the theater club and helping them bring these stories to like (and some of them even happened to be mine!) I finally knew just what I wanted to with my life. There's just something about starting with nothing and bringing out something that everyone can appreciate. And now that I'm working my way to making my dreams come true, I'm glad I've got this film connection to make something for myself out of that which used to be just a way for me to pass the time while waiting for my parents.

Oh wow, it's a brand-new year, and a brand-new decade at that. Time to work on my new year's resolutions. And definitely on the top of the list is to not give up and continue with my course so I can one day get to produce a film.

I believe in dreaming big, that's why even though I'm still a student, I'm also envisioning myself that I will one day be a producer of a movie. Of course, I know that's still a long way to go, and I've got so much to learn. And boy, do I ever. It kind of gets tough at times, dealing with so much information. Everything we're learning here is just so important, it pays to really pay attention. Then again, it's not that tough to do so. Given that our classroom is a film set, it's such a great motivation to work harder. Being able to see just how films are made and assisting in behind-the-scenes work really gets you pumped up to be a better student and to learn more.

Being behind the scenes this early on in my career is a great inspiration to keep doing well here. Hell, I'm still a student, and already I can feel that I'm starting a career. That's just amazing, isn't it? I've got this film connection that just pushes me to do harder and be better. Keeping that resolution won't be too hard this year, that's for sure.
