Thanks to film connection I have been working making commercials all over the East Coast for just over 5 years now. My Work takes me from my home in New Hampshire, down as far as the Florida Keys and as far north as Nova Scotia in Canada. The work is varied and at time challenging, but it’s great fun to be doing what you want to be doing. Before my course with film connection I was a sales person and I really hated it. Not because of the endless travelling but because I knew I could be doing something better. Just about to commence my film connection program and I am so looking forward to begin. I am looking forward to some hands on training inside a real film set. I want to concentrate on the sound side of the business such as sound design and foley work. I’m eager to start working alongside my personal mentor and the production staff. Choosing to enroll with film connection has to be THE best decision I have made in my life. My one on one mentor taught me all aspects of working with film. Not just the obvious “this is how you hold a camera” stuff, but also such things as foley work, set design, location scouting, even how to negotiate with city officials. Everything needed to make myself more attractive to a prospective studio head or production manager. Being a film camera operator is something I have wanted to do since school, but I never really believed I would ever get into this highly competitive industry. Thanks to all the training I received via my mentor I was skilled and confident enough to speak to film production companies about hiring me as a 2nd unit camera operator. 6 months ago it paid off and I am now working for a Montreal based company.
