Nolan Coley - Duluth, Minnesota

Nolan Coley
Duluth, Minnesota

Of all the schools that I have been to, including those not related to film, Film Connection had the most lasting impact on me. I was immersed in the actual set and picking up on a lot of good practices my mentor and other professionals were doing. My questions were comprehensively addressed either by my mentor or the other experts that I got to meet. This helped me ease up on the environment where I will soon be a part of. Going to Film Connection three years ago was the most important decision that I have ever made. I am very glad I went through it.

Terence F. - San Jose, California

Terence F. San Jose, California Four years ago I signed up to Film Connection’s mentor-apprentice program and I am so glad I did. I was given the opportunity to work alongside actual professionals and also to use the same gear as the pro’s use. Let’s get this clear, it was an apprenticeship and not an internship. I was not just used as a glorified coffee boy or laundry collector. I learned a craft that would ultimately transform my entire life. I now work at a film publishing house near Santa Clara, CA and I love it and would heartily recommend www.filmconnection.com to anyone.

Todd H. - San Jose, California

Todd H. San Jose, California I'm doing what I believe I was put on this planet to do, that is to make films. This is thanks to the superb training I received from Film Connection, and more specifically my one on one mentor, Philip. His task was to teach me all the fundamentals of film making, but he went a lot further than that. He also taught me all those little things that often take many years to learn. He also advised me to enroll in a basic electronics workshop so that if any equipment decides to pack up, I would be better prepared to fix it or find a work around. For the last 3 years I have been working at a small production house near San Francisco and I can honestly say those 3 years have been the best of my life. If you have a love of film making and are eager to learn, why to go to www.filmconnection.com and see how they can help you.

Prakash S. Ontario, California I enrolled with Film Connection just over 7 years ago and I have to say that it was probably one of the wisest moves I ever made. From the moment I signed up I was looked after. I was assigned my very own mentor, whose task was to train me and do his best to get me working as soon as humanly possible. My mentor was great, he went through everything with me, gave me assignments to work on and introduced me to people he knew in the filmmaking industry. Sudesh K. Jersey City, New Jersey I’ll keep this short and sweet. You want to make it into film? You have talent but no gear? You are highly motivated and hungry to succeed? If the answer is yes to the above, give Film Connection a call; I did and it was the best decision I have made. They provided me with a mentor, whose sole task was to do his utmost to get me into the film business. He trained me on everything. I was assigned tasks that I had to complete on time before I could move on to the next one. I was hard work but well worth it. Richard M. - Seattle, Washington

Richard M. Seattle, Washington Thanks a lot to everyone at Film Connection; especially to my one-to-one mentor Andy. I have to be honest that I’m not a natural learner and I am so grateful that he persisted with me. He stuck with me when I felt that I might not make it. He had total confidence in me and that really motivated me. Next week I will be assisting in an actual film shoot for a commercial. I am really looking forward to that. I’m hoping that after I complete my course I will be able to find work making commercials, either locally or maybe even in Los Angeles. I am prepared to travel to where the work is. Roberto D. - Des Moines, Iowa

Roberto D. Des Moines, Iowa I just wanted to say thank you to everyone at Film Connection. They really helped me make a start in filmmaking and were totally upfront with me from the very beginning. They made it very clear that it would not be easy and that I would start from the very bottom of the ladder. There was no deception or candy coating. They also said that if I worked and studied hard I had the very real possibility of making it. This was honest and I respected them for that. My course was quite hard, there was a lot to take in but it was well worth it in my opinion. My mentor even managed to line up some interviews for me and now, I am working for a small production house just outside of Los Angeles. If you don’t mind working hard and have no illusions about what it will involve you should give www.filmconnection.com a call or email. You will not regret it.

Ben D. - Provost, Utah

Ben D. Provost, Utah Film is one of the most prestigious industries out there right now. The glitz of Hollywood, and of courses the Oscars and Emmys. This is why so many people want to work in this business. It’s also a very difficult industry to break into. It’s often a case of who you know as much as what you know. That is why I enrolled with Connection. As well as learning just about everything you need to know about film making, their mentors will also introduce you to people in the business, colleagues and acquaintances. These meetings can get you hooked up with some of the most professional individuals within the Hollywood studio system. My mentor has promised that if I keep working hard, studying and take on all the information he passes along to me that he will introduce me to the many professionals he knows in the system. This is a real motivational boost to me and makes me all the more eager and hungry to succeed. I have no regrets about signing up with www.filmconnection.com, thank you once again.

I just would like to say thank you to Film Connection for everything they did for me. From my training right to and including finding me work in a great production house nearby. The course was tailor made for me and fit into my rather busy lifestyle. I worked evenings and weekends in a hotel, so being able to train during the day and other spare time was a godsend. My mentor really knew his stuff and was gracious enough to pass on his vast wealth of knowledge to me. He set tests and challenges for me to ensure that I was picking up all the information he was giving to me. After the course he recommended me to an acquaintance who has since taken me on full time. This really was the best decision I have ever made.

I recently completed a 6-month course with Film Connection and just wanted to give my opinion. I was supposed to enroll a year ago but due to some issues I was unable to commence the course. By the time I got round to enrolling I was informed that the cost of some of the materials had gone up. They were kind enough to honor the previous price, which came in very handy. It just goes to show that making money is not their main motivation, helping their students is it would seem. The course proved to be as worthwhile as I had been led to believe. It was definitely worthwhile and would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks again www.filmconnection.com.

People told me that I needed a degree from a fully accredited university if I was to be taken seriously in this business. Thanks to Film Connection, I have dispelled that myth. The training I received as part of their 6-month mentor/ apprentice program was more than enough to get my foot in the door. Combine this with a willingness to learn and lots of hard work and now I am working as a Foley artist for a major studio in Hollywood. They did not care about diplomas; they cared more for an enthusiasm to work and a eagerness to learn new technologies. Thanks a lot Film Connection for helping me make the move into film, and in particular advertising. 10 years ago I completed my program with them and almost immediately I found rewarding and very lucrative work making commercials and infomercials. Thanks to them I also found the love of my life, Jules whilst I was training. She was the secretary at the place I was training at. It was pretty much love at first site. I do a fair bit of traveling as part of my job but Jules understands that I am doing something I was meant to do. The training I received was top of the line and I am so grateful for them for this. Thank you Film Connection so much for all the help that was given to my daughter, Melissa during her time on your program. She learned so much whilst on the course. Thanks to the training she received and also the assistance she received from her mentor she was able to find work in a studio in Hollywood. Although she is far from home, she is exactly where she wants to be. She is so pleased with the training she received that she wishes to become a mentor herself when she becomes a little more established. She wants to help others just like she was helped. Thank youI Film Connection for all the help that I received from you over the last 6-months or so. Even after I completed the course, successfully I might add they continued to help me, even finding me a position within a small local film house. This is perfect for me as I would much rather work for a smaller studio than be a small cog in a very large studio wheel. My mentor taught me everything he knew about sound design and this is the reason the studio hired me. Thank you www.filmconnection.com.
