Ashton Martan - Dover, Delaware

I’ve been working in advertising for just over 18 months and it is everything I dreamt of and much much more. I got my break thanks to www.filmconnection.com and my mentor Deborah. Deborah ensured I learned everything and I do mean everything about making commercials. Treat the subject matter just as you would treat a movie. She taught me to strive for what I want and to believe in myself and my team. She also introduced me to all her business associates and contacts which was great because one of them took me on after seeing some of my work and speaking with Deborah. This is definitely one of those businesses where it more about who you know rather than what you know. Saying that with Deborah’s help I feel I do know a great deal. Thank you Deborah and thank you www.filmconnection.com I couldn’t have done it without you.

Last week I was asked by my former mentor and now friend Jason whether I would say a few words about my experiences with www.filmconnection.com. To be quite honest I would be honored to say exactly what I thought of my experiences with them. Enrolling with them was THE best decision I have ever made..period. The taught me everything I know about making films. They taught me all aspects of film making from how to scout locations and how to use a modern film camera to set design and even makeup. But what they taught me most was self belief, they taught me how to believe in myself, because if you don’t believe in yourself, how do you expect a major studio to. Recently I moved from my home town of Biloxi, Mississippi to Los Angeles, California and am now working fulltime for a major Hollywood studio. Everyone has different experiences obviously, but I have to say that my personal experiences with www.filmconnection.com are 100% positive. Thank you for helping me on the road to a successful career in film.

Ever since I was a little kid I have loved wild life. I have also loved watching wildlife documentaries. Channels such as the National Geographic and Animal Planet have been an inspiration to me over the years. Now I have enrolled with www.filmconnection.com and hope to become a wildlife film maker. Thanks to their tailored curriculum, I can study around my social and working life. My mentor David is teaching me all aspects of filming, with an emphasis on shooting wildlife. Not just the typical “how to hold your camera” but also such important things as how to cover your scent, how to make an impromptu hide or platform. In 2 months I will be vacationing in Costa Rica and I will be filming in the jungles whilst I’m there. This whole program is a wonderful growing experience for me. I hope one day to make a film with Sir David Attenborough, that would be a dream come true.

Thank you David, and thank you www.filmconnection.com.

I, like everyone on this planet I think went to see James Cameron’s Avatar at the cinema. I was fortunate enough to see3 it in 3D. Cameron is a real innovator, he likes to push the envelope and take risks. That is what I want to be like, someone who will utilize the latest moviemaking advances. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com and my one on one mentor, coincidently named James I hope one day soon I will. James has taught me all aspects of filmmaking, with an emphasis on more movie making technologies, such as HD Digital filming and 3D filming. Next week I come face to face with the new ‘Red Camera’, this was used recently in the Hit movie Know1ng, starring Nicolas Cage. This has been a great experience for me. I can’t thank you enough James and www.filmconnection.com.

For the last 6 months I have been enrolled in a www.filmconnection.com course here in Houston, Texas and I have to say it has been the most exciting, fulfilling and exhilarating 6 months of my life. When I enrolled, one of the first things they did was assign me my very own personal mentor, Marcus. He has gone through everything, and I do mean everything that you need to know in order to succeed in this cut throat business. He has many years experience working in Hollywood, including on some major projects. He worked in sound design, the area I want to work in so I am listening to all his tips and pearls of wisdom. He has also began introducing me to all his colleagues, acquaintances and business contacts, which is really awesome. I’m really positive that with the help of Marcus and www.filmconnection.com I will fulfill my dream to work in major motion pictures in tinsel town.

Right now the movie industry is one of the most dynamic and exciting industries to be working in. Thanks in part to visionaries such as James Cameron, Jack Snyder, David Fincher and Ridley Scott. They have certainly left their mark in the world of cinema. I hope that one day I can have my name mentioned along with these cinematic geniuses. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com and a lot of hard work and determination one day I really do believe I will be. I’m not being big headed, I’m just confident that with the help of my personal mentor Isaac and all his nuggets of solid gold advice I will know enough about this industry to make a real difference. Also, Isaac has been fantastic, introducing me to all his work colleagues and acquaintances, I’m actually running out of business cards. Isaac has been my biggest supporter, pushing me to go further, even when at times I don’t think I can go any further. He constantly, sets me goals and targets and motivates me enough to exceed them. Thank you, Isaac and www.filmconnection.com.

I’m a major fan of TV crime dramas, my favorites are CSI New York, CSI Miami and NCIS and my biggest dream would be to be behind the camera filming one of these fantastic shows. Thanks to www.filmconnection.com hopefully I soon will be. Their tailored curriculum has taught me everything I need to know (and much more) about filming TV dramas. Luckily I live in New York and can wander around looking at locations. My mentor Danny has taught me so much. Not just the obvious stuff to do with cameras and lighting, but also how to make a location work for you, how to make use of the surroundings, even where the best sounds are in the city. He should know he was born and bred in the city. He has also introduced me to several of his associates within the business, so things are very promising. I’m about to make a short film about real life crime in New York and with Danny’s help will show it to several NY film producers. With any luck something big will come of it. This whole course has been a wonderful experience for me. Thank you www.filmconnection.com.
