I just wanted to say thank you to film connection for giving me the experience and confidence to work in the movie industry. During my 6 month course I was taught every aspect of film making, with an emphasis on cinematography (my chosen route) I was working almost immediately as part of a crew on an actual working set. I found this the best way to learn everything there was to learn about cinematography, including all those tiny little trade secrets that you will never learn from behind the desk in a classroom. I studied film at my High School and when I graduated my teacher advised me to look up film connection. He told me that they had a really good curriculum that would be tailored to fit me. I gave them a call and had an interview with the head of recruiting. Then I had a meeting with the person who would be assigned as my mentor. Both meetings went very well, they answered all my questions and provided lots of information. They even provide their own in house finance deals with low payment, which suited me, and my parents. Eighteen years ago I enrolled with film connection. I have to say that it was the best decision I ever made. It not only gave me the qualifications I needed to work within the film making industry, it also gave me the confidence that was needed in order to push myself in this ultra competitive industry. What I learned from them beat anything you would pick up in a four year community college course, and a lot more relevant to the business.
